Question:  What are the public health goals of the project?
  • Answer:  Prevention by decreasing health disparities; increasing access to blenders (food processors, grinders, graters, etc.)
  • Prevention by increasing health literacy and promoting the United States Public Health Service (USPHS) Surgeon General’s health priorities by using this opportunity as a vehicle to distribute educational pamphlets on HIV prevention, prevention of early childhood caries, childhood obesity and nutrition;
  • Empowering mothers or (caregivers) the opportunity to provide the best care for their children.
 Question:  Is this project endorsed by the USPHS?
Answer:   NO.  The project is not endorsed by the United States Public Health Service Corps (USPHS).  The founder of the project is an officer in the USPHS and will be asking USPHS officers to volunteer their time during off-duty hours.  However, the project has partnered with the United Way National Capital Area (UWNCA) and has funding from both the Physician Assistant Foundation of the American Academy of Physician Assistants as well as UWNCA.
