Ülgen Semaye Fideli
Ülgen Fideli is the Founder and Executive Director of Operation
Don't Chew (ODC). She works as a Neurology Physician Assistant at Walter Reed Army Medical
Center and the National Naval Medical Center, treating Wounded Warriors of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring
Freedom and their family members.
She spent several years in Lusaka, Zambia as a Public Health Fellow for the
Zambia Emory HIV Research Program. There she was the team lead for the clinical laboratories and also directed the establishment
of a more sophisticated laboratory to collect samples for research studies currently being conducted to learn more about the
natural history of HIV, prevention of HIV transmission and treatment and vaccine efforts.
Ülgen Fideli received
a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Health and Society from the University of Rochester, a Master of Science in Public Health in Epidemiology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and a Master of Health Sciences from
Duke University, Physician Assistant Program. She currently serves as a Lieutenant
Commander in the Uniformed Services.

Fideli lives in Maryland with her husband, Jason Stegman. Together, they have two sons, Kemal and Serhan.
